13-Dec-2023 (In Property Law)

Sir , My grandfather's property was distributed equally to his 4 sons in 1975 through mutual understanding . Now my father has one son(me) and 4 daughters. My father sold 80 % of his share for marriage of my sisters and now he owns few remaining ancestral property (got through division ) and self acquired property on his name. My father is ALIVE and my sisters have filed a case for share in property . i read on internet that ancestral property once divided becomes self acquired . A property to be called ancestral , the right on a property should flow for 4 generationswithout any break or interruptions in title. In your case the grandfather's property was partitioned among his sons. Your father is now the absolute owner of his share of your grandfather's property. He can do whatever he wishes to do legally with his said property and your sisters have no right on it. The case filed by your sister has no merit and will hence fail.
