I can also see the latest mutation extract at http://www.bhoomi.karnataka.gov.in/ Is there any way to get the mutation extract of 1980-81. (I do have proper number from the legal opinion) Will there be any issue If I do ahead without this document?

Mutation extract can be obtained by applying to the local civic body-tehsildar or at revenue office.
You have to pay applicable fee through the required mode.
Enclose the required documents like copy of sale deed, latest tax receipt
The concerned revenue officer will do the needful.
Mutation is a later event to the registration of property in your name.
It is not compulsory to obtain a mutation copy. But it is required for various other purposes, like, electricity connection, etc. Also it helps you to trace how many hands the property has passed.
Even without a mutation copy you are the ownership title holder to the property.
Since you need this for 1980s, the revenue office has to physically check records to provide you a mutation extract, since records were not computerized then.
You may go ahead after ascertaining if there is a change of ownership during 1980-81.
