How to acquire legal heir certificate?

..we have took education loan from bank by keeping our house as collateral which is on my father's name..my father expired in January of 2016..so,the bank is asking for legal heir certificate for releasing our house documents?please guide me on how to acquire legal heir certificate and what are the charges applicable?
The legal heir certificate is issued by the SDM(Sub Divisional Magistrate) of the area on the basis of any application submitted by you.
An inquiry is made by the SDM through the SHO(Station House Officer ) of the area and on being satisfied by the inquiry vis a vis your application, the Legal Heir Certificate would be issued to you.
