How is the property distributed after husband if there are 2 wive

My father has two marriages. He married second time after the death of first wife. Now my father is dead. The property should be distributed to the kids of both wife evenly or the only wife who is alive. My step mother demands share in property. Which is not fair to the kids of first wife who is dead.
