According to the recent Supreme Court Judgment if the father has passed away after September 2005, then daughters will have equal right over the self acquired property of the father. If the father passed away before September 2005 the daughters will have no right over the self acquired property of the father. In case of ancestral property, every legal heir will have right over the property and the property will be divided according to the Hindu Succession Act.
