Electric Meter and Unfair Charges

15-Dec-2023 (In Property Law)
My builder Lodha is charging Rs. 2500/- per month for using electricity as electric meter is not yet installed and Lodha is providing electricity from third party. Lodha is not providing reason of deciding Rs. 2500/- charges per month for electricity wherein this is being charged to all residents irrespective of whether they are staying or not which is unfair as we end up paying more even when we are not using electricity to the extent of Rs. 2500/-. Lodha takes 4 months electricity charges in advance at the time of possession assuring meter would be installed in 4 months but if not then they start deducting from Maintainance charges paid for 5 years in advance. Would like to know process to take it forward and how to get Lodha to install electric meter in our premises.

This is my response to you:
1. This is arbitrary practice;
2. You have all the right to know the usage of units per month;
3. You can write a letter to them or their representatives;
4. If they do not revert positively then send a legal notice;
5. Consult a local lawyer and take steps.
