Distribution of grandfathers property in Christians
12-May-2023 (In Property Law)
My grandfather passed away this year. The property (land) is in his name. Now my grandmother wants to transfer the property to me and my brother (her son's children). In total my grandparents have 6 children (5 daughters and 1 son). Is it possible for my grandmother to directly transfer the property to me n my brother without seeking permission from her daughters? We are Catholic. Please advice
According to the Indian Succession Act, 1925, every children has equal share in the property of the deceased property and every children of the deceased father has also gets equal share from the proceeds from the sale of the property. Therefore every child of your grandfather will have eqaul share in the property.
