Dhana Settlement - Stamp duty/ Registration charges in Tamilnadu

08-Nov-2023 (In Property Law)
Siva's Grandfather (Mother's father) is willing to transfer his property to Siva through Dhana Pathram (without consideration). But Siva's mother is insisting to register the property through Dhana Pathram in her name as she is the relative/ blood relation, so that the stamp duty / registration cost is less. Whereas if it is to Siva stamp duty/ registration will be on higher sider 7%. Is this true? Both daughter and daugther's son are relatives, so there shouldn't be any difference in registration cost?

Your mother is wrong. Grandfather can write settlement in favor of his grandson. Both has the same stamp duty and registration fee. If you have any more doubts on this pls feel free to contact me for a detailed consultation.
