Can mother's sister claim mother's self acquired property
28-Jul-2023 (In Property Law)
I stay with my mother in her house. She is the owner and it is her self aquired property. Though my late father spent some money while building the house. My aunt, i.e my mother's sister has been staying with us for more than 12 years. She has her own home, still she prefers to stay with us. She never paid any money and totally depends on my mother for food and shelter. My question is, can she claim my mother's property?
No, your aunt cannot claim any right on your mother's self acquired property. Rather she has no right at all. Your mother has earned this property and it is her decision to transfer gift her property to anyone she wishes to give.
