Can land be transferred to other spouse name through settlement deed

I have purchased a land measuring 5 biswas situated in bilaspur ( Himachal pradesh) in the name of my wife. I want to construct a house on the same by taking house building laon from department as I am center government employee. but as per new rule the land should be singly in my name or jointly with my my spouse.we both belongs to himachal pradesh.I want to know whether my could transfer half of land in my name for the welfare of family.can this could be done through settlement deed. kindly help me.

If the property is entirely in her name then she can relinquish half of the share in the property to you by executing a relinquishment deed in your favour. Apart from that she can transfer by way of gift deed if the property is entirely in her name. The settlement deed would be required only if you both are parting ways and getting divorced.
