Can land be purchased in same cast (Christian General)?

Hi Experts, I am planning to buy a land in Orissa.I have verified one of friend's brother inlaw land.He is a christian.One think I marked in his both registry and mutation paper cast mentioned as a "Christian(General)".I am general cast. 1. So, is right to purchase that land? In orissa Christian are consider as a SC/ST. 2. Is christian a cast ? Your views are highly appreciated. Amit

Christians are not SC or ST so general category people can purchase land from them. No clearance required. ,
