If the person owning the property acquired it on their own (self-acquired property), they will have a right to dispose off their property as per their will. However, in case of ancestral property, provisions of the Hindu Succession Act will be applicable. In case there is a will deciding the devolution of property after the death of the owner, the same will be active after the death of the owner. The Will be of no use for ancestral property.
