Property Law Videos - Married woman's share in father's property

Married and want to claim maintenance from your father? Wondering whether you are legally allowed or not? A married woman is legally eligible to ask for maintenance from her father.

The catch to this is that the father should have a self acquired property. Another point to be considered in case of the death of the father is whether he died interstate or not. Interstate in lay man's language means dying without making a will. In this case, legally the property or wealth is distributed equally among all heirs like the mother, brothers or sisters.

According to the Hindu Succession Act, Section 6 the claim of Ancestral Property can be given to a married woman but this can be done only after taking various factors into consideration. This would also depend from case to case.
