Tenant left house leaving dues what is mode to recover from him

My tenant has vacated my house leaving Rs 20000 due on rent. What rights do I have to get my amount back ? Can I go to his house and take his bike and tell him that he will get it only when he will pay the due amount. I will do it after reporting the police? He always says that he will give the amount after few days? Religion- Hindu
yes, ofcourse you can move ahead with this plan, because civil proceedings will take more than a year or so, and will expense more on your pocket do it by your own self, section 354 i.p.c causing voluntary hurt, remind yourself of this section before initiating in anger...
