Can I give notice during lock in period

22-Jun-2023 (In Landlord/Tenant Law)
I've rented an apartment in Mumbai which has got a lock in period of 11 months. I wish to terminate the agreement before the agreement expires after the lock in period. My owner says that the notice (which is of 2 months) can only be given after the lock in period which essentially makes the lock in period of 13 months. But I think the notice can be given before the lock in period if the agreement termination date is beyond the lock in period.

Every lease agreement contains such clauses and there are termination clauses in such agreements default of which can be termed as breach of contract. So you can terminate a contract in such situations even in a period during lock in period. But if you terminate the lease before lock in period without any fault of the other party (breach of contract) you shall be liable to pay damages as expressly stipulated under the contract in such an event.
