As a freelancer or a consultant one is free to work with or for two or more companies simultaneously. But as a full time employee it is not allowed if mentioned in the terms of employment itself. If it's not specified in the TOE then one can work, but nothing should be of the common interest of the companies. Indian Labour Law does not explicitly prohibit dual employment until the contract doesn't mention it.
