Stipend not paid for volunteering in an event

I am student at graphic era hill university
From dehradun
A sport based company came to our college
For hiring volunteer for 10 days for the event sports for all championship
There were around 200 volunteer promised to pay stipend of 5000
But they didn't paid us yet..and it has being around one year...how should we proceed to file a case against them?
have you send any representation to them ? just send them a notice at your end and the issue might be resolved, since the matter pertains to only 5000 rupees it might not be conducive to file a legal case.
