Is it necessary to serve SBI notice period

If an assistant manager at SBI state bank of India wants to resign from SBI and join a central or state government job in India then is he supposed to serve notice period at SBI. Or can he get a notice period waiver. Please help.?

One can do either of any. It is better you serve the notice to the Bank and then join the organization wherein you have been offered the job. Otherwise by the way of buy back policy resign from the job and join the next organization. But in this manner you have to lose your monthly salary equivalent to the time period mentioned in notice period.
