employee is entitled for compensatory leave in lieu of the work done by him on public holidays as per various labour welfare legislation otherwise recourse can be made to the court of law. For the periods when Sunday is not a weekly holiday for him, he gets no extra wages for working on Sunday, but on the comparatively infrequent occasions on which he is called upon to work on a day, whether a Sunday or not, which is a weekly holiday for him, he is not merely given a compensating holiday on some other day but is also given a day's wages in addition to his monthly salary.

labour law specifies states the working hours and days. you are entitled to a take a off during a week. it may be sunday or anyother day.
It is a violation of a statute and illegal on the part of school managment
