IO asked me to write a declaration that I have no medical certificate

23-Jun-2026 (In Divorce Law)
My FIR has already been registered, but now the IO is demanding a written declaration stating I have no medical certificates or proof of my injuries. Is this legally allowed at this stage, and should I refuse to sign it to protect my case . Hindu religion

Once an FIR has been registered, the Investigating Officer is entitled to collect evidence and record statements during investigation. However, asking a complainant to sign a declaration stating that there are no medical records or proof of injuries should be approached with caution, particularly if the complainant has suffered injuries, is undergoing treatment, or may be able to obtain medical evidence later. The absence of a medical certificate does not automatically invalidate a complaint. Medical evidence is only one form of evidence and the investigation must consider all relevant facts, circumstances, witness statements and other materials available on record. Before signing any declaration, it is advisable to carefully read its contents and understand its legal implications. If the declaration does not accurately reflect the facts, appropriate clarification may be sought from the Investigating Officer. Since the consequences may vary depending on the exact contents of the FIR, nature of allegations and stage of investigation, obtaining case-specific legal advice would be prudent. For a detailed assessment of your rights and the appropriate course of action based on the documents and facts of your case, you may refer to the legal resources and consultation details available at The Lawgical Professionals.
