IO asked me to write a declaration that I have no medical certificate

23-Jun-2026 (In Divorce Law)
My FIR has already been registered, but now the IO is demanding a written declaration stating I have no medical certificates or proof of my injuries. Is this legally allowed at this stage, and should I refuse to sign it to protect my case . Hindu religion

Based on the facts stated, the Investigating Officer cannot compel you to sign any declaration that is false or against your interest. If you do not possess medical records, you may truthfully state that no medical documents are presently available, but you should not sign any statement that could prejudice your case or amount to withdrawing your allegations. The absence of a medical certificate does not automatically invalidate an FIR, as the investigation may rely on other evidence such as witness statements, electronic evidence, and surrounding circumstances. Before signing any document, read it carefully and, if necessary, seek legal advice. If the IO is exerting undue pressure or insisting on an incorrect declaration, you may raise the issue before the senior police authorities or the jurisdictional court. A detailed examination of the FIR and case facts is necessary before giving specific legal advice.
