If I apply for mutual divorce can husband ask for compensation

I am an Hindu working women and Got married in 2013 . He stayed with me for about 9 months in my place and for past 2 years he left me and went to his house. We went to his house and he is not responding properly.His father is demanding dowry from me .I want divorce from him and he is not accepting for mutual consent also. As I am working women,whether they will ask for compensation ,if I apply divorce?

If you want to discontinue the marriage by filing divorce petition, you can very well file a divorce case against him on the grounds of adultery and cruelty.
They cannot ask for maintenance from you until it is proved that he has not deserted you and he is unemployed, not having any means to sustain his daily life and he is dependent on you.
You can lodge a dowry demand and harassment case against your father in law.

Madam,
if you apply divorce , he has no right to claim compensation from you. instead of you have mention in your question that they are demanding dowry.in this situation you can file dowry complaint against them. if he is not accepting mutual ,you can file divorce case
