Husband Not Giving My Personal IT Returns Can I send him legal notice

17-May-2023 (In Divorce Law)
In February, me and my husband (both Hindu) mutually decided to file for divorce. However, in the subsequent family meetings, he and his family are becoming extremely uncooperative and now showing signs of aggression. He is unwilling to disclose his financials making it difficult for me to compute a settlement amount. He is saying he has a lot of debt but is not willing to share any credit report or credit card statement to validate the debt numbers. In fact, since he was filing my personal IT Returns in India for the last few years, I told him not to do so henceforth and give my past IT Returns back to me so that I can file on my own. Initially he agreed but now he is making excuses and being totally uncooperative despite sending multiple messages on phone and email. From a legal standpoint, can I send him a legal notice for withholding my IT Returns against my wish and not giving them to me? I feel I need to take some legal action so that they feel I am not weak.

Of course it is possible to send him a legal notice. One can also file in Court for the production of his financial documents. There are other channels through which you can retrieve your past IT returns. There is a pattern you need to follow through legal recourse for this. Remember Law is there by your side to safeguard you. No one can get away with foul play.
