Dear Friend,  as per the law of our land, divorce petition may be filed in court after one year from the date of marriage.

Now, if both parties i.e. the husband and wife, wants to get a decree of divorce then a petition of divorce on Mutual Consent will be filed which will take time minimum of 6 months.

But if only one party wants to get divorced and other doesn't then it will be a contested case and it may take time for some years and the wife will also sue you for monthly maintenance and you are bound to pay her.
