Hello,

The applicability of a foreign divorce decree in India would primarily depend on whether the ground of divorce is covered under hindu law. Irrevettible breakdown of marriage has been recognized a valid ground of divorce, therefore the divorce order that you have obtained in the Australian court should be enforceable in india.

Was your ex-wife a party to the divorce proceeding in Australia?
