S.Gunasekar Advocate Answer. Yes, you should appear in court on the filing date and politely request more time to file your counter, explaining that you are in the process of hiring a new lawyer. This shows respect to the court and avoids any adverse orders. Since you want to save the marriage, your presence and respectful conduct will show the judge and your wife that you're serious and not avoiding the case. ✅ Attend court ✅ Request 2–3 weeks' time ✅ Mention you're trying to appoint a lawyer ✅ Stay calm and cooperative This is the best approach to avoid triggering your wife further.
