Can I file a case for defamation if 498A against me has been withdraw?

My inlaws have claimed that they have withdrawn 498a case against me. They have also filed divorce petition which they didnt revealed. They want us to sit. Should we sit with them ? Can I file defamation case if they have withdrawn 498a
Yes you can file a case of defamation both civil and criminal. However you can also file a suit of false prosecution. In this context it depends upon the judge that whether he finds any merit in your case or not. Sometimes such matters are withdrawn upon the settlement of both the parties so it cant be said as defamation.
