Hosting a website containing allegations about a specific person can create legal risk under Indian law. If the statements harm the reputation of that person and cannot be proved as true with reliable evidence, it may amount to criminal or civil defamation under Section 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code. Even if people share personal experiences, publishing them without proper verification may still expose the website owners to liability. To avoid legal consequences, it is advisable not to publish defamatory content, avoid naming the individual, ensure that any statement is supported by verifiable evidence, and preferably obtain legal advice before hosting such a platform.

Publishing allegations or personal experiences about someone on a website may expose you to defamation liability if the statements harm the person’s reputation and are not properly verified. Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Section 356, making or publishing defamatory statements can attract legal consequences. Before posting any content, ensure that the information is true, supported by credible evidence, and presented in a responsible manner. Avoid unverified accusations or abusive language. It is advisable to consult a lawyer before publishing such material.

I understand your concern, however, the approach you are proposing—creating a website to publish personal allegations, recollections, and alleged proof against an individual—can expose you to serious legal consequences under criminal and civil law. Publishing such content without proper verification and legal backing may amount to defamation, cyber defamation, invasion of privacy, and even harassment. Even if you believe the information to be true, publicly sharing it in this manner without due process can lead to legal action against you, including criminal complaints and claims for damages. The legally safer and more effective course would be to gather credible evidence and proceed through proper legal channels, such as filing a formal complaint with the appropriate authorities or institution. This ensures that the matter is investigated lawfully and your interests remain protected. I have been handling criminal and sensitive matters for the past few years, including cases involving defamation, online allegations, and misuse of digital platforms.
