A Senior citizen Hand bag was theft in train and caught a candidate. But not able to recover all items. how to approach

This case can proceed legally. File a FIR first and let the investigation begin. If there is a CCTV footage it will be more helpful. Even if recovery not happened after a thorough investigation then there is a compensation option available (strong as this is a case of senior citizen) under National legal services authority and state legal services authority. If theft occurs while travelling in a train the incident should be reported to railway police immediately. The victim can lodge a complaint with Railway Protection Force at the nearest police station or train authorities in railway station or within the train. The complaint should mention the details of the stolen items and circumstances of the theft. If the accused person has already been caught the police will register the case after theft and investigate the matter to recover the remaining items. The senior citizen should also keep copy of the complaint and corporate with the police during the investigation. If required advocate may assist in pursuing the case and recovery of the property.
