Theft in hotel room owner threatening not to file any complaint
19-Mar-2023 (In Criminal Law)
We took a hotel room in guntor this hotel belongs to a MLA. During our stay one of their house keeping member stole 3 lakhs from our room which all recorded in the CCTV camera footage but since that hotel belongs to a MLA he is threatening us to not to file a complain or take any legal action. So I want to know what are our legal right in such situation. I am a NRI but my family stays in India.
As per your query, if your money was stolen and you have the cctv footage of the same you can file an FIR to the police under section 378 of Indian Penal Court. You can also file a complaint against the minister for criminal intimidation under section 503 of IPC and if in any case the police refuses to file a report then you can directly approach the magistrate to grant orders for filing an FIR.
