Sexual affair with married neighbour

Hi my name is Akshay I'm 24 years old Hindu male and I'm in close relationship with a married woman in my apartment. I want to know whether having sexual affair with her attracts criminal charges, as I have read somewhere that having sexual relationship with married woman is criminal offence even though the woman has consented for sexual act. If so can I be protected under any provisions of law because I'm having a consented sex.
Hi, with reference to your query please note that Whoever has sexual intercourse with a person who is and whom he knows or has reason to believe to be the wife of another man, without the consent or connivance of that man, such sexual intercourse not amounting to the offence of rape, is guilty of the offence of adultery, and shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to five years, or with fine, or with both. In such case, the wife shall not be punishable as an abettor.
Her Husband may file a case of Adultery on you and you shall be liable for legal consequences as per the law of the land.
