Sex on false pretext of marriage
09-Jun-2025 (In Criminal Law)
If I file this case against a person, the lawyers suggest I need to inform my family because the guy met my parents. But my parents are not strong mentally and might not even support this case. Can I not proceed without them? If defence or court considers them as witness is there any way I can ensure zero involvement of family as they are orthodox. Forget supporting, this will strain family relationships. Please advice in detail
If you are an adult, you are not bound to inform or take consent from your family to lodge a criminal complaint. The same will be done at your instance alone. Your family will only have a role to play as witnesses and ofcourse, you might require financial and emotional support from them during the trial.
