Dear client,
If any one assault or uses criminal force to any women, intended to outrage the modesty of a women then she or on behalf of any one can lodged a complain before the police, if police did not accept your complain after that you can send the substance of such occurrence in writing and by post to the superintendent of police concerned. After receiving such information from you SP did not take any action regarding the occurrence, then you can file a complain case before the judicial magistrate .The magistrate after taking cognizance of the offence directed the concerned iic to registered the case and investigate the matter.NO such specific time limitation in law .it depends on the discretion power of the court

I suppose its 354 IPC. In a 354 IPC case, you can directly file a FIR before the Police. Why to go for a complaint case. As soon as you file a FIR, police will take action and State will fight on your behalf.

- Section 354 of IPC
