Legal action for trespass on agricultural property

21-Jul-2023 (In Criminal Law)
I own and possess a piece of agricultural land duly supported by revenue records. My agent sowed the land for bajra crop under intimation to me. The same evening a party who has no local standi came with some supporters with arms and ploughed the land threatening the agent;s life if he resisted. The police responded to the call on 100 but did not do anything to stop commission of the act.The agent called the SO of the concerned police station and filed a written complaint. The police however registered non cognizable offense under section 155 of IPC and took no further action for more than two weeks. What is the remedial action? Does the act not constitute a cognizable offense?

In this case you can file a complaint in the police station of your jurisdiction. You can also reach out to the Senior Superintendent of police by writing a letter to him. However you can also file a complaint in the court of your jurisdiction under section 200 of CrPC.
