Father not allowing us to marry how can we legally marry

The father of my girlfriend dont want us to be married as they are much richer.He said if her daughter goes to police/ national comission of women to complain that father is not getting us married ,then he will complain police that I have brainwashed/ instigate her daughter.Should this be a concern for me as I dont want to be dragged into police or court. what action will police take on me.My gf will take my side in front of police
