Discrimination due to slander by fellow students

18-Aug-2025 (In Criminal Law)
I am enrolled in a reputed college in Chennai. A bunch of students along with the coach of a sports team have been ostracizing me on the basis of alleged bias/hearsay. I am being deprived of adequate opportunities to play and make it to the team. I had complained to the respective sports advisors and Dean since this falls under 'ragging' but haven't received satisfactory response. I need to know whether I can take any legal action against the students/university.

Dear Client, 1. You may file a written complaint before the University Anti-Ragging Committee/UGC Anti-Ragging Cell. If no action is taken, you can approach the police under the Prohibition of Ragging Act and also file a writ petition in the High Court for violation of your fundamental rights to equality and fair opportunity. 2. Consult an advocate to discuss your case in brief. 3. You may schedule an appointment regarding your case by phone or email at your convenience. Thanks & regards, Priyanka Advocate Coimbatore
