Legal Review – Publication of CT Scan Visualizations of Commercial Pro

23-Feb-2026 (In Corporate Law)
We are an industrial CT scanning company. We want to purchase commercially available products such as earbuds, batteries, and mechanical parts, scan them using our CT equipment, and publish the rendered images for marketing and educational purposes. We would like to understand whether publishing these CT visualizations could create any risk related to patents, industrial design rights, copyright, trademark, or reverse engineering laws.

The legal implications of publishing CT scan images of earbuds or equipment would depend on what exactly is depicted in the images and the manner in which those images are used or published. If the images merely show the internal structure of a product that has been lawfully obtained from the market and are used for general informational, analytical, or comparative purposes, the risk of intellectual property infringement is generally limited.
