Clarification on copyright registration rules and procedure

22-Nov-2023 (In Trademark & Copyright Law)
. I am an author and - These are my doubts on copyright registration, please help me with it: 1) I heard from a source, that it takes 18 month (approx.) before the government grants a copyright so does it means that I have to wait for 18 month before I can publish my work safely? 2) I heard from a source, that if I got a dairy number then I can start publishing my book safely- so is this information valid? 3) Can I do the copyright registration process alone or do I need to take help from an external agent to guide me. 4) What are the advantages and disadvantages of having an external agent to guide and doing the copyright registration process alone? Kindly help me to solve my doubts.

Hi, Firstly, You can publish your work safely once you receive a diary number for the copyright application under process. It is important to understand that copyright comes into existence upon creation. Copyright Registration confirms the authorship. You can process the application alone or through an external agent. The advantage of having an external agent guide you through the process is by way of resolving any possible objections at the initial stage before the making of the application and the legal technicalities in solving the problems arising in the future regarding the registration of the same. If you need assistance with the copyright application, I'd be glad to help. Please contact us accordingly.
