An affidavit can be prepared and submitted, stating the correct surname of the grandfather and explaining the reason for the discrepancy on the marriage certificate. You may need to submit an application to the authority that issued the marriage certificate (e.g., Registrar of Marriage) requesting a correction along with that affidavit and proof of correct surname and other required documents.
