Rented a zoomcar and retained car papers, threatening to file case

Hi, I recently rented a zoomcar from Hyderabad for 13 hours. While we were driving the car the car engine was faulty and after a long argument i had to return the car key and didnt return them the car papers as i was scared they wont return back the money for which i paid. Now they are telling me i spoiled the car and want me to pay the car repair fees 20,000 and i should return the car papers. What should i do? Should i return the car papers as they are threating a legal case against me. I didnt return the car papers just because i know they wont return my money and would make me pay for more. Regards Hari
You were not supposed to keep the car papers. You should have opted legal redressal for getting your money back. yes you should return the car papers as soon as possible and try to settle the matter with them. there is no point keeping the papers with you

she before you take that car on rent is there any agreement between you and that car owner and if not then better to approach any veh mechanic take him with you and just ask him to inspection the veh condition as the condition of vehicle was damage because of you or its condition was previously not good, and if you to know more about this so better to approach any advocate personally.
