Changing your surname after marriage is your personal choice. In India, changing your surname after marriage is not legally mandatory. You can still apply for government jobs without changing it. However, if you do decide to change your surname, ensure to update it across all your important documents, using your marriage certificate as proof. This will help avoid any potential complications in the future.
