Clarifying a requirement - Maharashtra Co-operative Society Rules 1961

04-Jul-2025 (In Civil Law)
I am referring to the Maharashtra Co-operative Society Rules 1961, clause no. 57 A 7 g iii i. It states as mentioned below. (iii) 2/3rd members are not present at the commencement of the meeting (i) 2/3rd is fraction, it shall be rounded to next higher number. I want an explanation and clarity regarding, and if 2/3rd is a fraction, it shall be rounded to the next higher number. So if there are 11 members, then as per the requirement, it has to be 8 (7.33 rounded to the next higher number).

Yes, if there are 11 members, then 8 members must be present to satisfy the requirement of 2/3rd rounded up, as per Rule 57A(7)(g)(iii)(i). Your interpretation is correct. So, minimum 8 members must be present at the start of the meeting.
