I understand you're wondering if a Certificate of Age, Nationality, and Domicile issued by a Deputy Collector's office in Maharashtra can be used as a birth certificate. The short answer is: generally no, not as a primary birth certificate. While it contains the date and place of birth, it's not a legally equivalent substitute for a birth certificate issued by the appropriate registrar of births and deaths. A birth certificate is a primary document proving birth, while a Certificate of Age, Nationality, and Domicile is a secondary document that may rely on information from other sources, including potentially a birth certificate. Think of it this way: a birth certificate is the original, official record of your birth. The certificate from the Deputy Collector's office is more like a summary or confirmation based on the information they have on file. Many official processes require the original birth certificate. However, the certificate might be acceptable in certain situations where a birth certificate is unavailable and the authority reviewing it deems the information sufficient. This is entirely at the discretion of the accepting authority and depends on the specific context. For example, it might be accepted for some administrative purposes, but not for others like passport applications or school admissions. To be safe, it's always best to obtain a proper birth certificate from the relevant registrar's office. If you're having trouble obtaining one, a lawyer specializing in such matters can assist you in navigating the process. They can advise you on the best course of action given your specific circumstances and the requirements of the authority needing the birth certificate.

The Certificate of Age, Nationality, and Domicile issued by the Deputy Collector, Revenue Department, Maharashtra, mentioning the date and place of birth, may serve as supporting proof of birth in certain legal matters. However, as per the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969, a Birth Certificate issued by the Municipal Corporation or Gram Panchayat is the primary legal document for birth records. Acceptance depends on the authority reviewing the document, and confirmation from the concerned department is advisable.
