Advocate not working as accepted and also not returning documents

We have appointed an advocate to file counter petition for divorce case and gave him all the original documents, written statements, and photos, etc., but for more than 8 months he has not filed the signed vakalata, and not prepared the counter petition. we came to know this and requested him to return our original documents to proceed with another advocate. Now he is telling I don't have any of your documents, you can do whatever you want. I am kindly requesting the senior advocates to help me.
