Q: Quash for fIR from outside india
We live outside india and can we file a quash from outside indiaQuash for fIR against BNS 85 which is allegedly a fraud case.
Advocate Billa Gowtham Raju answered
Yes, an NRI can quash an FIR from abroad under Section 528 of the BNSS (formerly Sec 482 CrPC). You can authorize a lawyer or relative via an apostilled Power of Attorney to file the petition. Courts often allow virtual appearances via video conferencing for verification. Common 2025 grounds include settlements, lack of evidence, or malicious intent in matrimonial/civil disputes.

My wife loged 498 against me and my family i applied for divorce first now she wants to rejoin I told to take all the cases back but 498 case first hearing is on May 2026 I told to go for quashing but her father saying we will write mou and settle the matter before lok Adalat saying quashing takes 2-3 months time lok Adalat can cancel in 15 - 20 days is it quashing 498 by mutually agreed takes 2-3 months or it can be done in 15 days
Advocate Billa Gowtham Raju answered
lok Adalat solves the issues quicker than regular courts, for regular courts you need to attend hearings. petitioner evidence, respondent evidence, written arguments, oral arguments..etc.lol Adalat is like a one time settlement. and submitting meditation report to regular court. case is solved
