In the year 2002, Chapter VI-A was inserted in the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, providing for compulsory pre-litigative mechanism for conciliation and settlement of disputes relating to ‘Public Utility Services’.

National Lok Adalat 2023 ; The Schedule

There are many traffic challans across various states for Commercial, Non Commercial and other types of vehicles which are unpaid hence NALSA conducts National Lok Adalat four times a year in which all the pending challans and other common cases are covered on the spot and justice is delivered.

The 3rd National Lok Adalat for the year is set to take place across the country on 9th September 2023, except for Delhi, for which the date is 8th October 2023.

The Lok Adalats are to be held at district courts of all state and union territories of India. There is a set procedure to get registered via Token Registration on the official websites of National and State Legal Authorities.

National Lok Adalat Token Registration and Challan clearance process 2023

It is important to get Token Registration done for the National Lok Adalat 2023 which usually starts 4 days before the scheduled date. The steps to be followed for Token Registration are given below:

In order to get your Lok Adalat 2023 Token Registration, you have to:

1. Visit the traffic portal of your state and click on the Lok Adalat 2023, or else visit the official website of NALSA at https://nalsa.gov.in.
2. Click on the option ‘National Lok Adalat 2023 Token Registration’ and you will be redirected to another page.
3. Now, you will find an option that is related to Challan Waiver / Settlement, click on it and get redirected to the next page.
4. At the end, you have to enter your Vehicle Number / DL number etc. and download the all pending challan that you want to waive off or settle.
5. Now, you need to take a print of the and take it to the District Court and your challan will be presented over there on the scheduled date.
6. Last step would be to pay the Fine and collect your clearance from the Court.
