Procedure of forming charitable trust or welfare society

We are a group of 7 people working on arranging funds for treatment of critical illness of needful. We are planning to formalize our group as a Charitable Trust or Welfare society. The source of funds for us would be small contributions from friends and family. It will be good if they can get tax benefit for that. Please let me know which category is better for us, the expenses and the procedure of registration. It will be helpful if we can limit the expenses as we are a self sponsored group
You may register a society under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act
Prepare a memorandum of articles and Bye-law as suits to your intended objects

Register a charitable public trust creating charitable trust as per your objects and get it registered
Getting IT benefits etc are the action to be taken up after the society or trust begins to operate and satisfied the conditions for such benefit
