Ron Funk boasts a distinguished legal career spanning over twenty-five years, which commenced following his graduation from Brigham Young University’s J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1996. His journey into the realm of law was profoundly influenced by his undergraduate years at Brigham Young University, where he pursued a degree in English, complemented by a minor in family science—a facet of his education that would prove unexpectedly pivotal in shaping his trajectory within law school and throughout his professional endeavors.
The acumen gained through his English studies swiftly yielded tangible rewards. Ron's adeptness in writing, nurtured during his academic pursuit, propelled him to clinch the accolade for the Best Brief in the inaugural year class moot court competition. This triumph burgeoned throughout his tenure in law school, with successive years witnessing his grasp of the Best Brief honor, culminating in the prestigious Jack Welch award during his third year—a distinction bestowed upon the most exemplary brief submitted by a third-year law student at Brigham Young University.
Ron's initial foray into the legal arena centered on crafting appellate briefs as a law clerk at his initial post, a plaintiff's personal injury firm. This inclination persisted when he transitioned to family law in 2002, allowing him to ascend to a vantage point where his involvement as an attorney significantly impacted a series of published family law cases. These cases, in turn, assumed a formative role in influencing the interpretation and implementation of various facets of family law.
Notably, Ron stands among a select cohort of only eight attorneys in California possessing the dual distinctions of CFLS (Certified Family Law Specialist) and CALS (Certified Appellate Law Specialist). Ron's engagement extends to a close collaboration with a distinguished panel of the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists (ACFLS).
