Payment stucked not getting after multiple attempts

Hi Sir I have a problem and need suggestion I have given a cheque of 6 lack to a wholesaler through my partner to get supply of items as I was planning to have partnership with one existing shop but later on this person have some dispute with his old partner and plan cancelled now my payment has stucked and both are not ready to pay giving daily new time line please suggest what need to do in this as material has not supplied yet I was not having any agreement for the same is all was verbal communication. When I discussed it with the supplier he has given me 2 lac chek back with date of 25th October and asked rest I will not give you should connect with person who was your partner. When I am connected with partner he is giving excuse that he don't have money and give once he have Now I am in a big problem as I have already lost my job in a company due to covid 19 that's why planed to start something to take care my family please suggest what need to do in this
