Who is the owner of the property when the document is lost?

15-Dec-2023 (In Property Law)
Hi Sir My Father does not know who is the owner of the property purchased by his late Grand Father. My Grand Father has two son, (My Father & My Uncle). Now my Grand Father & My Uncle both are dead & we want to know the legal owner of that property as property paper is not available with us and it was lost by my uncle son. As per my Uncle son, property is on his father name (Uncle) and my Grand father was not the owner of that property. Request you to please advise.

Both sons are legal heirs of your grand father. If property owner was your grand father then it will be devolved to his both sons equally. You can confirm from the records of registrar or municipal authority of your area. A local lawyer can help you well in obtaining the records.
